DIRECTORS

A Board of Directors (approximately 10 members) is elected each year at an Annual General Meeting (usually late April or early May) by the membership.

A newly-elected Board member has a term of three years; after that time expires, he or she can run for a second consecutive 3-year term. To encourage new Board members, the By-laws state that a Board member should resign after two consecutive 3-year terms.

The Board chooses a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary, while the remaining Board members serve as members-at-large. The Music Director and Assistant Music Director are also on the Board as advisers, but may not vote.

DMM Board Meetings are held approximately 10 times per year, at which decisions are made about budget, policy and procedure, purchasing and maintaining band instruments and equipment, uniforms, insurance premiums, concert dates, social events, etc.

The Society business is run in accordance with the DMMCBS Constitution and Bylaws, amended by EGM of Members on January 25, 2011 and subsequently accepted by the B.C. Registrar of Companies on February 4, 2011.

The organization is registered as a non-profit, recording society, and has Federal tax exemption status.

COMMITTEES

The Board of Directors are assisted by several Committees. All of these Committees report to the DMMCBS Board, so most committees have at least one Board member on them, though this is NOT a neccessity.

Garage Sale Committee	• collect and store Garage Sale items (at Janet's farm) • hold meetings to mark prices on items • recommend a date to the Board • find a venue for the Garage Sale (e.g.Marilyn's Church) • organize volunteers to handle all the jobs associated with the Garage Sale (advertising, putting up signs, renting a truck, loading the truck, sales crew, refreshments, etc.)	Anne Avery Ann Bates Ken Borrie Janet Friesen David Jackson Janie Jackson
