"ABC" Stirling Castle was not...
a Band Aide's recollection of an incident there
Extensive restoration work was
being carried out at the castle and hence much banging and clanging as
Curt and his concert band played in the nearby abbey. As the lovely
sounds wafted out of the door some of the sightseers went into the chapel
to listen, others were hesitant until we, who were on the outside in the
courtyard, assured them that there was no admission charge. A good
crowd was gathering and then Maureen began to sing. The banging and
clanging stopped and three of the workers came over to see what was
happening. One went into the chapel and the other two remained near
the doorway.
When Maureen finished her song, they returned to work. however, it seemed about 20 minutes later that six of
the workmen returned and went into the chapel
- hard hat in hand - and
stayed until the end of the concert. Maureen did sing one more song:
"My Heart Will Go On" and the crowd seemed to enjoy
that.
To me, a lowly band-aide, that appeared a great tribute to Curt,
Maureen and all you clever musicians.
ABC anyone? Elizabeth
