Maritimes Trip 2005
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see - with
all your musical friends - a beautiful part of Canada, including on one end
of the tour historic Quebec City, and on the other end Canada's furthest
eastern city, St. John's Newfoundland. Quebec City would be the location of
our first concert, and what a setting! Quebec is a historic walled city
built in the 1600's. Canadians from the west are always surprised to
discover that Canada has a city with similarities to Rothenburg, Germany, or
Chester, Eng.
Next we'll drive through the northern townships along
the St. Lawrence River to enjoy a two night stop in Fredericton, performing
our first concert at King's Landing, a historic settlement like Fort
Langley. We continue through New Brunswick to the famous Confederation
Bridge that takes us into PEI's charming green valleys, including Anne of
Green Gables Park and Charlottetown, the home of confederation.
Departing PEI via ferry a couple of days later, we tour
Nova Scotia next. Based at an outstanding hotel in Halifax, we'll hopefully
perform at the famous Citadel and explore the South Shore of Nova Scotia.
Later we depart Halifax and head up to Cape Breton to enjoy the hospitality
of Baddeck, the history of Louisburg Fortress, and the scenery of the Cabot
Trail.
The ferry to Newfoundland will be a 6-hour voyage
preceding our adventure on "the Rock." Our first stop will be the town of
Corner Brook, which our British friends say is their favourite place in all
of Eastern Canada! After an interesting drive across the entire length of
The Rock, we arrive at our final destination, storied St. John's
Newfoundland. We'll have two evenings and a full day to explore St John's
and perform our final concert before boarding our plane for the flight home
on Sunday morning.
